I’ve been inside companies, worked independently, helped other people build, and started building things of my own. And over time, I kept noticing the same thing: what gets the most attention isn’t always what’s driving the outcome.
What’s right in front of you is rarely the whole story.
Sometimes you have to step back, ask a better question, and look at what’s happening underneath the surface. That’s usually where the real leverage is, and where a different move can change a lot more than the obvious one.
Behind every business decision, is a person.
The longer I’ve done this, the more obvious that’s become. A pricing change affects a customer. A new process affects the person expected to use it. A growth goal affects the team responsible for reaching it. Numbers are never just numbers once you follow them far enough.
That’s why I don’t believe people and profit should be treated like competing priorities. Of course making money matters. It has to. But so does how you make it, who helps create it, and whether what you’re building is actually making life better.
If a business grows but the people around it are worse off, that's NOT a win.

That has made my path a little less linear than some. I’ve changed directions, followed my curiosity, learned new things, and made decisions that made more sense to me than they probably did on paper.
Some of those choices worked. Some taught me what not to do. But all of them gave me a much wider view of people, work, and what it actually takes to build a life and career that fit.
